All through 2018, on the first day of the month I will publish a photograph and journal about what it means to me. This is an exercise I will do to further develop my writing.
If you have the time and inclination, you can join me in the comments below and you can find my previous FIRSTS here.
Today we celebrate World Book Day so it felt appropriate to get this month’s inspiration picture from a stack of my to be read books.
These are the books I plan to read in the coming months. They are lined up in my window so that I can always see them and anticipate their stories. Picking them left to right to read. As you might see there are several books furthest to the left with bookmarks in them and that is simply because I like to read more than one book at the time. The piles on top, either don’t fit among the others yet, or they are finished and need to be returned to the library.
Even though it doesn’t look like it in the rest of my room (I am too embarrassed to show a photo of that!) I like to be organised, and especially when it comes to books. Unless it is a library book with a due date I rarely let any books ‘jump the queue,’ no matter how interesting they sound. Otherwise I would have nothing but half read books all over the place because I would want to start them all at the same time.
I don’t get as much reading time as I used to because my work load has shifted, but otherwise there are few things I enjoy more than spending all day in bed with a cup of coffee and a good book.
