NaNoWriMo Week 4 – Downhill

It’s all downhill from here.

Not my story.

My story is going great. I’m talking about the whole challenge. We have reached the home stretch with exactly one week left of this year’s NaNoWriMo.

Last week I faced my third week nemesis with poise and gracefulness (read caffeine and pure determination) to make sure I did not stop writing. It always happens to me, every year so far. I rarely fall behind on my word count (I’m one of those annoying people who’s always a few hundreds words ahead of the actual target) but it has a psychological effect on me to not write for a couple of days during the third week. I feel that I have somehow failed the challenge by not committing to my writing every day.

This year I was determined not to have any gaps in my word count bar, every day it should be going up, even for just a few hundred words.

Now onto the last week. The downhill, where everything is great no matter what.

The end is in sight.

Downhill is the most exciting part of the journey. Congratulations on making it this far.

This reminded me that I’m supposed to be doing NaNoWriMo… I’m a bit far behind to catch up, but I think I was trying to concentrate on making a readable story this year. Last year I finished with 10,000 words to spare, but I shudder to look at the draft. You can do it, though! Finish strong!

Yes, that is the problem with NaNoWriMo that first draft is not really worthy to be called a first draft. Someone at our write in called it his 0.5 draft.
      Good luck with your story.
